My name is Khalida Bibi, and I belong to the Kumhar community. My husband's name is Nadeem. I reside in Zahoor Hayat Colony, Street No. 9. I got married to Nadeem 15 years ago, and we have two daughters. Our elder daughter’s name is Meerab Zahra; she is 10 years old and studies in Class 2. The younger daughter’s name is Sabahat Zahra, and she is 4 years old.We lived in a joint family. Just a year after our marriage, conflicts and disputes began, which I tolerated for 13 years. My husband used to beat me, constantly fought with me, and suspected me without any reason. He also did not provide any financial support for the household.Once, I went to the Sulaiman Shah Mela (festival) with my mother, sister, and brother. Someone there took my picture and sent it to my brother-in-law. My in-laws then accused me of going to the mela with an unknown man. I explained that I had gone with my family, but they did not believe me. My husband physically assaulted me and threw me out of the house. At that time, I took my younger daughter with me and went to my parents' house, while my elder daughter remained with my in-laws. Later, I got her back through the court. I also filed a case for financial support. As a result, my own family became upset with me and forced me out of their house as well.I consulted my lawyer, who advised me to seek refuge in a shelter home. I went to the police, and they brought me to Star Welfare Organization – Hawa Shelter Home. Now I am living here and feel safe.
