Success Story: Asia Bibi

My name is Asia Bibi. My husband's name is Imran Abbas, and my father's name is Hussain Bakhsh. I belong to the Kashmiri community and am 35 years old. I am a resident of Aasi Colony, Factory Area, Sargodha.

I have three sisters and one brother. My sisters' names are Shazia and Nadia, while my brother's name is Bilal. I have two sons, Sahil Ali and Azan Ali, and one daughter named Sonia Kanwal.

Previously, I was addicted to crystal methamphetamine (ice). The police officials of Police Post 78 Pul, Cantonment Police Station, Sargodha, arrested me while I was under the influence of drugs. Later, I was transferred to Hawa Shelter Home, operated by Star Welfare Organization.

I arrived here on April 24, 2024, and I am currently residing here. Star Welfare Organization and Hawa Shelter Home provide me with food, clothing, accommodation, and other basic necessities. Today, I feel that my condition has improved significantly compared to the past.

Institutions like these are essential for poor, helpless, and vulnerable people, where they can receive support, protection, and care. I am also grateful to the police of Cantonment Police Station, Sargodha, for bringing me here.

My daughter, Sonia Kanwal, did not treat me well. Along with her husband, she subjected me to extremely harsh treatment, which is very difficult for me to describe. She often fought and argued with me and my sons. Due to these difficult domestic circumstances and mental distress, I turned towards drug addiction.

Drug addiction destroyed my life. I also own a two-marla house, which I built through my own hard work and labor. However, because of my addiction, my children stopped accepting me and eventually forced me to leave my home.

Now, I want to repent and permanently free myself from the curse of drug addiction because it has ruined my life. I want to rebuild my life and live again with dignity and hope.

I will always remain grateful to Star Welfare Organization and Hawa Shelter Home. I will continue to pray for them because they supported me during my most difficult times, provided me with shelter and care, and gave me hope for a better life.
