Case of Maria — 3 September 2026
On 3 September 2026, the police from Jhal Chakian Police Station, Sargodha, brought Maria, daughter of the late Qadir Yar, belonging to the Muslim Sheikh community and resident of Dak Khana Khas Mari, Tehsil and District Sargodha, to Star Welfare Organization.
Maria stated that she wanted to marry of her own choice, but her family was against her decision and subjected her to violence. Therefore, she did not wish to return to her home.
Maria was admitted to Star Welfare Organization, where all essential necessities of life, including food, clothing, accommodation, and other necessary facilities, are being provided completely free of cost.
